Plus 3 Pounds

Okay, so I weighed myself this morning. I gained 3 freakin' pounds since Monday! What tha?? I don't get it. I mean, I haven't been eating lettuce and carrots for 4 days, but I haven't been eating pounds of lard either.....geez, gaining 3 pounds in 4 days is not funny! This is how it has been going for the past nine months. In February, I weighed 166. I went to Louisville with my best friend and her sisters and mom for a girls weekend back then. I gained 4 pounds just that weekend! If you read my first post, you know that I was on a low carb/high protein diet last year. I lost about 35 pounds in about 5 months and maintained that weight loss for a little while. I still needed to lose about 25 more pounds, but I never did. I only gained and have kept gaining. I now weigh 229 pounds. I am definitely going to go on a diet. The only thing is I do not want to be disappointed in myself when I fail miserably during the holidays, so I am going to go all hung ho after the beginning of the year. I have bought a food/exercise journal. I will blog about that soon. I have my treadmill all ready in the garage. I am getting everything all prepared so that after the holidays, I can start fresh and not have anything standing in my way. I know some of you might think, "Why not start now? You will be that much far ahead than waiting until January." Like I said before, with the holidays, I know I will be eating some bad foods, so I am afraid of starting a diet only to feel like a failure if I eat bad on Thanksgiving and Christmas. I feel like once January gets here, it will be a new year and it will help give me the mind set of a new beginning. I feel I will have greater success that way.

Weightloss is NOT My Friend

Let me just start off by saying that Weightloss and I DO NOT get along.
I have struggled with weight all of my life.  I have been skinny about 3 times in my life.  How did I do it?  I  starved myself!!  I do not recommend this!  What happens is your body thinks it is starving (which it is), so when you do eat, your body holds onto EVERYTHING!!  Starvation cannot last forever voluntarily so when you start eating again you gain all the weight back plus some.
As of today, November 19, 2013, I weigh 226.  BAM!!  This girl weighs 226 pounds!!!  This is the heaviest I have ever been in my life and I.do.not.like.it.one.bit.
Last year I tried a low carb diet and lost 35 pounds.  I felt great!  However, at the end of the year they not only raised their prices.....they doubled them!!!  I was so upset about it knowing I could not afford it anymore that I pretty much gave up.  Not only did I gain the 35 pounds back, but I gained another 30 pounds.  It's ridiculous!!  I will not go back to a low carb diet.  It worked and worked fast.  However, I no longer believe in a diet that removed food groups from a diet.  I was eating less than 20 grams of carbs a day.  Let me break it down for you.  One piece of bread has 17 grams of carbs in it.  So, I was not eating any carbs at all!  Vegetables have a few carbs in them, so I was getting my "20" carbs from veggies and protein shakes that I was drinking so there was no more room left for any other carbs.  I was not allowed to have fruit because fruits have natural sugars therefore they have loads of carbs.  It just doesn't seem right to not eat fruit when it is part of the food groups that is part of the daily balance.
So, where am I going with all this?  I want to lose weight.  I want to be skinny.  I want to be healthy.  I want to wear cute clothes.  I want to have energy.  I want to like what I see in the mirror.  I want to look good for my husband.  I want to be his arm candy.  I want to feel sexy for him.
So, I am going to set a goal and I am going to document my journey here on this blog.
If you are struggling with your weight and would like to follow along, I would love for you to join me!
We could encourage each other and lift one another up.
The only thing I ask is that all you haters out there that like to hurt people and kick them while they're down...don't waste your time.  Everyone is going through some kind of battle and before you make a hateful or belittling remark, think about what you are going through or what your parents or children are going through and how you would not want someone to be ugly to them.
Okay.  Now that we got that out of the way, let's join forces and lose some weight!
What I plan to do is post my weight weekly as well as post my triumphs and struggles throughout the week along with some recipes.
So, welcome!!!
